***RECAP*** March 28 Drawing session • Model: Scott

This week's session was well attended. Scott provided us with some wonderful poses. Unfortunately, because I spaced on his bracket, we didn't have time for reference shots.

This sessions'  model: Scott

Fee for entry: $15 (or more if you wish to give)

Snacks are provided but feel free to bring something to share if you wish.

Bring your own materials. Easels and drawing boards are available.

Please do not bring aerosols or solvents - we can't handle them.

Session starts at 4:00 but please arrive by 3:45 to disrobe, set up, and enjoy a bit of social time.

The model will be lit with photographer's lights. If you wish to photograph the model for reference, you must speak directly to the model and work out rates. *** NDG - 2nd Anniversary Meeting Scheduled *** March 21, 2015 * 4:00-6:00 PM***

As a club, we've been meeting now for 2 years.  Its been an interesting ride so far and hopefully the journey will continue.

We have a new MeetUp out there now for those who need an app to remind them of events:

http://www.meetup.com/Naked-Drawing-Group-of-Washington-DC/events/221252486/

We are still meeting in the same space:

Vitruvian Gallery
734 S 7th Street SE
Second Floor
Washington DC

http://vitruviangallery.com/

There is parking available in nearby lots on Barracks Row and on the street. We are also walking distance from two Metro Stations. Check the gallery website for which would be more convenient for you.

Fee for entry is $15 but as we may have a second model on the roster for the day, please consider contributing more towards expenses.

For our Second Anniversary, we have the potential to have two models pose. Depending on how many of you show up will determine whether or not the second model joins the pose.

The primary model for this session is John. He was the model who started off NDG with us, draws with us on occasion, is a great model and an all-around nice guy.

The second model is Nate. He worked with us in our February session.

We have special guests who may also appear. :)

Snacks will be provided but feel free to bring something to share if you wish.

Easels are currently provided. We may be changing plans on that and it will be discussed at the event. Please bring your own supplies and refrain from any which require solvents or aerosols as we are not equipped to handle them.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to allow time for disrobing, set-up and a bit of socializing before we begin our session. As we are now opening membership to a semi-public service (MeetUp), there may be more members than usual so arrive early if you want a guaranteed spot.

The model(s) will be lit with a photographer's lighting system. If you wish to photograph the models for drawing reference, you must discuss the terms with the model. It would also be recommended you have the model sign a release if you wish to use or publish their photograph.

Looking forward to drawing with you all tomorrow and continuing our journey together.

Thanks and as always...

***UPDATE and some changes ahead *** 01-19-15

NEXT MODEL SESSION: January 24, 2014 3:00 - 5:00 PM
MODEL: Brian

First off, I'd like to apologize for being out of communication for this long, but I wanted to make sure a few things were made more concrete before communicating on the blog. Please forgive the trespass, but you know I'll make it up to you,  probably with cookies. :)

Due to some structural challenges at the gallery (now fixed) and continuing attendance at levels unable to sustain our costs, the activities of Naked Drawing Group were placed on hiatus. This was to allow some time to address the structural issues and discuss solutions to some of the challenges to maintaining the group.

Our time slot will be moving to Saturday afternoon.
Since our regular attendance core group is small, two or three people not being able to make it to any given session meant that often, funds to cover the model came out of pocket, and the gallery had to absorb the space rental for the evening.

We'll be moving our day to allow other groups the opportunity to have access to Tuesday and Thursday after-work time slots, and in an effort to alleviate the problem of people working late, stuck in traffic, or over-stressed from the work week to come out and draw with us.

We'll be a twice-a-month scheduled event.

The new hours will be between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM on Saturday afternoons
Some of our scheduled sessions will be between 2:00 and 4:00 PM, 3:00 to 5:00 PM or 4:00 to 6:00 PM. This flexibility will allow us access to a wider range of models and for participants to work in their weekend activities (if multiple members have early evening plans, we schedule earlier. Once the weather is warmer, if people need the later sessions to allow for early afternoon plans, we'll have the flexibility.) If members decide that we're to stabilize and lock on a particular time window, we'll proceed in that direction.

All Members must RSVP by Friday evening.
Attendance must support the model and room fees. If RSVPs do not meet the minimum threshold by Thursday Midnight before the Saturday session, we'll have to cancel the session. This has been expressed previously, so further explanations should not be necessary.

Please send your RSVP to ndg.draw.naked@gmail.com

Clothing-optional sessions.
Since the clothed drawing sessions were placed on hiatus until further notice on Thursdays, this has left some of our friends with few opportunities to meet and draw with us. That said, this is the NAKED drawing group, so I'll check with the group and if you agree, we will have some scheduled clothing-optional sessions. This will mean that if you choose to be naked to draw in clothing optional sessions, that's great. If you choose to keep your clothes on to draw, that's great. If you want to draw in your underwear, that's great too. Hopefully people will take the chance to be with friends and get comfortable with the idea that their friends enjoy nudity as part of the creative process.

We'll be making efforts to expand membership
Some of these efforts may include EventBrite, MeetUp and the use of notification applications that you may need to download to your phone to get information and updates. The group needs to grow in order to prosper. More on that later.

Refreshments will continue to be offered.
If you choose to partake, please consider donating a bit extra via the jar to defray costs, or consider bringing a snack or beverage to share with the group.

Price Increase.
$15 is the new fee per session. We may make plans in the future to offer membership packages rather than the standard per-session fee. More on that later.  Models and the space cost money. All other groups that meet in the space are self-sustaining. We should not be the exception to the rule.

Choice of Models.
Some of our members prefer some models over others. That is understandable. Of course, we all like to draw what we like. That said, attempting to work around people's preferences causes logistical issues and decreases the pool of models to which we have access.  Participants basing their attendance on model preference negatively impacts attendance and, in the long run, could impact the continuing existence of the group, so please weigh this information carefully when making a decision on whether or not to attend.

That said, if you know other people who would be willing to model for us, have them send their contact info to ndg.draw.naked@gmail.com and we'll see if we can get them to come model for us.

Thanks for taking the time to read this posting. I hope to see you all on Saturday.
