Tonight's model, Greg, was quite impressive. He held his poses, fell into interesting forms very naturally and had a relaxed stillness which was a lot of fun to dra.

NDG Drawing Session ***UPDATE*** 3-25-14

Hello Folks:

It looks like we have a bit of weather that will be coming our way during the morning rush hour. If the roads are clear and we aren't in a snow emergency, NDG will proceed as scheduled.  I'll send a status update tomorrow at 4:00 PM to confirm.

Craig, our model, will be unable to attend due to some urgent family obligations. I was able to find a replacement model for the evening.

Greg is a mature military man with experience behind the camera as a photo-journalist and some experience in front of the camera as well. 

The session begins at 7:30, but please plan to arrive by 7:15 for set-up. Fee for attendance is $12. Exact change brings good Karma. A vegetable and cheese platter will be made available.

Hello fellow Naked Artists.

I sent out the invitations/reminders of our next event on March 25, 2013.

Craig will be modeling us for this session.

Session starts at 7:30, but as space may be limited, if you wish to draw with an easel, please arrive by 7:15 for set-up.

$12 fee is required to cover model and location costs. Exact change brings good karma.

Easels and drawing boards are available, but you must bring your own art supplies. There are little to no clean-up facilities available so please keep this in mind when selecting your materials and prepare accordingly.

Time is offered at intervals between poses to allow for the Artists to share their work and socialize.

Occasionally models will pose erotically. Occasionally erections will happen. The artists are encouraged to focus the erotic energy into their work. If this isn't for you, but you'd still like to draw nude men, there are clothed-artist sessions offered. For details, go to vitruvianmen.org

We had a packed house tonight at NDG. Double chocolate pecan cookies and a hot, naked, friendly model seem to have that affect. We had a few folks show up we haven't seen in a while and lots of beautiful work in a diversity of styles which is really quite breath-taking:

Welcome to the new blog for NDG (Naked Drawing Group) of Washington DC.

NDG is a group of artists in the Washington DC area who meet twice a month. The group was established after a number of its members met at Vitruvian Gallery's Thursday night drawing group and posed a question - Drawing naked male models is fun, but has anyone ever started a drawing group where the model and the artists are all naked? It may seem odd at first, but as in most naked situations, after the first 5 minutes of internalized freaking out, its actually quite comfortable

From our experience, when everyone in the room is naked, people seem to feel free to socialize with one-another, and a relaxed atmosphere seems to develop.

The founder of our group, Alex,  has left the Washington DC area and will be joining his husband in New York City. I will be taking over administering the group, and updating the blog with scheduled events and recaps of each session.

We'll be featuring drawings from past sessions of models scheduled to appear.

My drawings appear this week, but as time goes on, other members of the group will have their drawings featured here.

For the month of March, we have two sessions scheduled.

Sessions start at 7:30 on the dates indicated, but please try to arrive before 7:15 to allow time for set-up.

Suggested donation is $12, and exact change is good karma. Sometimes the sessions are heavily attended, so early arrival is encouraged. If you prefer to draw with easel and/or drawing board, we have limited quantities available but you must bring your own art supplies.

The models occasionally are placed in erotic poses. Occasionally erections occur. These are accepted as a natural occurrence and the participants are encouraged to focus their erotic energies and those of the room into their art.

However we are all adults and participants are expected to act appropriately and respect other participants boundaries or they will be asked to leave.
